Election in Phlan Candidates

Election in Phlan Candidates

If you’re part of the Dungeons and Dragons Adventures League group on Facebook there’s a poll that will influence the Phlan Election at Winter fantasy. You must go there to vote. Here’s the text from the post

Three candidates have emerged as front-runners in Phlan’s upcoming election.

Jhessail Greycastle

Knight Commander Greycastle is a hero, but her loyalty to the Black Fists makes her vulnerable. She pledges to:
  • Establish a parliament of elected peers to govern Phlan, and serve as First Minister.
  • Reform the Black Fists and weed out corruption in its ranks.

Barrett Sokol

The youngest scion of House Sokol has gained popularity among the labor guilds. He pledges to:
  • Reinstate the mercantile Council of Ten and stand as High Councilor.
  • Create jobs reconstructing Phlan and raising the old city walls.

Colvin Doverson

Lord Doverson claims ancestry with the Royal House of Daoran. If legitimized, this would make him heir to the Cinnabar Throne. He pledges to:
  • Reinstate the monarchy and crown himself Lord Protector.
  • Renegotiate trade deals with other Moonsea ports for the benefit of Phlan’s merchants.
A vote will be held at Winter Fantasy 41 on Saturday Feb 4 at 6PM EST. The results of this poll will be weighted and added to the onsite vote to determine the winner. This poll will close at Noon EST that same day.

One faction has stepped up to speak out. Gymbo Gyre Gearsmith is looking to throw the power of the Greater Faerun Locksmiths and Security Guild (GFLASG) behind a worth candidate to be the next Chancellor of Phlan. Here’s the GFLASG proclamation and intention.

So let us know what you think would make a great leader for Phlan and we’ll see you at Winter Fantasy.

Non-Gaming Special Events at Winter Fantasy 2017

Non-Gaming Special Events at Winter Fantasy 2017

Hello gamers. Winter Fantasy starts in less than two weeks and for those who are going to be attending there are some interesting, educational, and fun events going on outside of the gaming you can do. Every one of these events will be held in the seminar area in the main hall.

Thursday

Maze Arcana logoMaze Arcana Live Gamecast (5pm-9pm): Join the creators of Maze Arcana, Ruty Rutenberg & Satine Phoenix, and the launch of their new livestream alongside their “Peanut Gallery” cohorts — Bill Benham, Chris Lindsay, and Travis Woodall — as they set off on an epic adventure around Eberron en route to uncover the rampant reemergence of the aberrant Dragonmarks, its prophetic nature, and a new source of arcane magic that many would kill to learn and some want only to destroy. With the moniker of “Peanut Gallery” they might not even make it to the storyline…

Friday

Hearlds Guild logoHeralds Guild of DM’s Member Meeting (5pm-6pm): Come join us for what exciting plans the Heralds Guild has in store for 2017 and beyond. We will also be announcing our DM’s that have been voted into Level 4 status by their peers, our DM of the Year award, and more. Finish your afternoon game, grab some food, and bring it back for a fun hour of watching Dave can company squirm up on stage.

Saturday

Phlan logoElection in Phlan (5:30pm – 6:30pm): Come listen to those characters vying for election to the position of Chancellor of Phlan and cast your vote for the NPC you think will be the best new leader of Phlan. Those with the proper certificate from the Phlan Trilogy need to register their intentions to run for Chancellor of Phlan. You will need to do this at HQ no later than Noon on Saturday. The first 30 minutes of this event will be opening statements from candidates vying for election. After this anyone is free to speak for any of the three candidates for the leader of Phlan. An open vote will follow with all present. There are two ways to vote.

  • If you have played in the PHLAN 1-1 to 1-3 trilogy with any character you may cast a vote directly.
  • If you have not played but are physically present you may cast your vote via someone who has by standing with them when the vote is called.

Slot 6, 8 & 10

Charity Raffle (Slot 6, 8 & 10): We will also be holding a charity raffle onsite only for exclusive DDAO tickets in Slot 6, 8, and 10. Basically you buy a raffle ticket, and at the start of each slot we draw one and that person’s normal ticket magically becomes a ticket to one of the DDAO events.

All proceeds benefit The American Cancer Society in honor of Jamie Tachiyama.

If you’d like to stay in touch you can register for our mailing list & news letter here. We’ll see you in less that two weeks at Winter Fantasy for all kinds of great games, gatherings of old friends and new, and as much fun as we pack into a long weekend.

A Shadow Over Winter Fantasy

A Shadow Over Winter Fantasy

Most of you go to Winter Fantasy to play D&D AL. Unfortunately a lot of those tickets are already sold out, but there is a shadow that you can still game under, a shadow covering a godless world of fire & blood.

Robert J. Schwalb and his team of GMs are revealing the World of Fire and Blood! The setting of Godless, a new world for Shadow of the Demon Lord. They have a three part adventure series running at the show that helps players create characters which will attempt to survive the horrors of a demon-infested post-apocalyptic world.

They have Part 1 running on Thursday, Part 2 on Friday, and Part 3 on Saturday. Each morning and afternoon a 2nd and 3rd table will be available to catchup previous days if needed.

Here’s a short description of the adventures:

Part 1: In a Pig’s Eye (Starting) Capture by a degenerate mutant and held beneath a crumbling city, the characters must come together to find a way to escape this subterranean hellscape.

Part 2: Dancing in the Ruins (Novice) The characters must solve the mystery of the Party King and the dark secret contained in his bizarre flotilla.

Part 3: Last One Standing (Novice) The characters become embroiled in a three-way power struggle for control over their home town Isolon. Who will they help? Or will they just help themselves?

we’ll have a little information on an upcoming adventure from Baldman Games, The Sage of Cormanthor (ELMW1-1). As a brief teaser here’s the description of the adventure:

The grain has rotted in the town of Elmwood, which means people might starve, businesses and banks might fail, and endanger the town’s already-precarious existence. Brave adventurers are needed to travel through the wild forest to seek the advice of the Sage of Cormanthor.
A four-hour adventure for 5th – 10th level characters

For those curious about what new adventures are premiering at Winter Fantasy there are still spots open for the D&D Experience.  This shows D&D Experience has the second Hulburg trilogy (levels 5-10) and the second Phlan trilogy (levels 11-16) premiering at the show.

If you haven’t played the first of those trilogies you can pick them up here:

Hulburg

BMG Convention Created Content is Now Available

Baldman Games is proud to be offering official D&D Adventurers League content on the DMs Guild

You can now find our first Adventure Trilogy on DMsGuild.com for purchase. It is very exciting to be able to offer this first trilogy of adventures to you outside of the summer Baldman Games convention schedule. They are fully Adventurers League legal for play according to the rules set in place for Wizards of the Coast for D&D Organized play. The three adventures in the Trilogy that are available are: A Scream in the Night, A Cog in the Wheel, and A Hole in the World. You can find details about the adventures below.

We are getting ready to offer more adventures as this month progresses, so be sure to keep an eye out for more Baldman Games Adventures on the DMsGuild.com

Welcome to The Moonsea. The northern frontiers of the Realms. Bitter, cold, and harsh to those unprepared but full of ruins, magic, and wealth to those that know where to look.

The Moonsea is rich indeed . . . gold and jewels, valuable pelts, and old ruins ripe for plundering. But it is a hard place to live – cold, brutal, and dangerous, and it makes those who live there into something much the same, tempering the soft iron of their spirits into cold, sharp steel. The people of the Moonsea are hard and unforgiving because if they weren’t they’d be dead at the hands of monsters, tyrants, or the cruel turns of nature itself. ~ Khelben “Blackstaff” Arunsun

CORE 1-1 A Scream in the Night: The City of a Thousand Forges, Melvaunt, is one of the most prosperous and stable on the Moonsea. All that is about to change, as a series of strange murders perplexes local law enforcement agents. The threat of a crazed murderer might be the least of Melvaunt’s worries. A D&D Adventurers League adventure for character level 1 to 4 set in Melvaunt.

CORE 1-2 A Cog in the Wheel: With the identity of the murdered confirmed, heroes are needed to track it down to its home. As it turns out, it might be a longer journey than first imagined. A D&D Adventurers League adventure for character level 1 to 4 set in Melvaunt.

CORE 1-3 A Hole in the World: Threats from outside Melvaunt and within push heroes to the brink as a terrified populace counts on the bravery of a few heroes to avert total disaster. A D&D Adventurers League adventure for character level 1 to 4 set in Melvaunt.

Origins Updates and D&D AL Call for Volunteers

Origins Updates:

We’ve made a ton of updates to the Origins page on the Baldman Games Website. This includes slot times, blurbs for the conclusion to the Curse of Strahd Season 4 storyline, the D&D Open, the new BMG Premiere AL convention content, and the D&D eXPerience @ Origins program. If you still have questions just drop us a line through the Contact form or the Forums. Thanks

D&D Adventurers League Call for Volunteers:

Welcome adventurer. After our exciting announcement of all the cool things we have going on this summer it is now time to buckle down and bring some additional help onboard to help make that, and future awesome things <trademark pending> happen. You can help make that happen. We are looking for additional authors (yes we do pay), social media / community guru’s, and website code monkeys (if you can update WordPress and not make it look like Dave did it on 90 minutes of sleep after 3 days of late night baseball games in a row you have the needed skillset). As we said earlier we have lots of cool and exciting things planned and you might be the next superstar. I myself was sucked in by an announcement just like this one 17 years ago and now I am bald, married, and have two great kids. Really who could ask for more????

These positions require a couple hours a week (little more during busy season and almost none during slow times) and does come with a compensation package that we do our best to custom fit to each volunteer to make sure they feel appreciated and rewarded for the work they are doing. If you are still reading, and interested, then head here to see what happens next.

Gen Con 2016 Volunteer Registration Now Open

What is that? Dave finally found the time to get Gen Con DM registration open?  I know. Once your failed save vs. shock and awe wears off head over to – http://baldmangames.com/gen-con/gencon/ and fill out the form. We will need a few hundred helpers this summer as always to make this show rock like Winger. We have our great benefits (hotel rooms within walking distance to the convention center you do say) as always. We will be processing these applications fast and furious as they roll in to make sure you are all setup in the system ready for event registration when it goes live in May.

Thanks

Baldman Games announces new D&D Adventurers League Exclusive Content

Welcome to The Moonsea. The northern frontiers of the Realms. Bitter, cold, and harsh to those unprepared but full of ruins, magic, and wealth to those that know where to look.

The Moonsea is rich indeed . . . gold and jewels, valuable pelts, and old ruins ripe for plundering. But it is a hard place to live – cold, brutal, and dangerous, and it makes those who live there into something much the same, tempering the soft iron of their spirits into cold, sharp steel. Hail and well met adventurer,

Baldman Games is proud to be the first group outside of Wizards to expand upon the great work that the D&D Adventurers League team has done over the first four seasons of the campaign, and we hope to be worthy contributors going forward. We have a lot of exciting things rolling out over the next 12 months, and we really hope you’ll join us for the journey.

We are working with the D&D team at Wizards and the D&D Adventurers League campaign administrators to create official D&D Adventurers League content that will premiere at conventions where Baldman Games is present. We use the D&D Adventurers League Player’s Guides, the campaign rules and errata, log sheets, the works. You can use your existing character and play away. It’s all D&D Adventurers League legal!

Additionally, the adventures created by Baldman Games will be on the Dungeon Masters Guild right alongside all the great D&D Adventurers League adventures that are already available. Our plan is to offer short, independent trilogies that focus on specific locations in the Moonsea and provide you with more chances to play.

Highlights:

  • Moonsea-Based Stories: While upcoming D&D Adventurers League seasons might move around the Forgotten Realms as their stories unfold, our stories will always be based in and around the Moonsea. You may romp up and down the Sword Coast, saving the day (or not), but for these adventures, your home will always be back in the Moonsea. And your home will be changing around you, because of you!
  • Trilogy-Based Story Telling: Each of our releases will be in the form of a trilogy. They will be released through the Dungeon Masters Guild after their premiere period has passed. This means you will get an entire story to play at one time.
  • Convention/Gameday Support: Each of those trilogies will also have a special adaptable adventure attached to it for larger public events to run. This gives public shows the ability to band together their players to make lasting changes to the Moonsea. More details on these adaptable adventures and how to apply to run them at your convention/game day are coming soon.
  • Character Driven Stories: Our adventures provide you with the ability to affect the story in a permanent and noticeable fashion. Throw your support behind the throne, or join in with those trying to pull the chair out from under the current leader. You choose. Special events around the Moonsea give players the ability to make a choice and see the immediate consequences unfold.

So where do you go from here? Check out the website. You’ll find our plans for this summer, our campaign staff to date, the ability to subscribe to our mailing lists, and forums to chat with your fellow adventurers waiting to strike their claim to fame.
