What Are Dragon Marks?
You might have heard us use this term, or heard another Baldman Games player talk about Dragon Marks, but what exactly are they??
Essentially, dragon marks are our frequent flyer miles. Our reward system which ensures that folks who continually show up to play get access to cool things. We like you, and you like to play with us, so we want to make sure we reward you for showing up!
How Does It Work?
Every ticketed game a player plays with us (starting at the July 2022 Virtual Weekend) gets them one dragon mark, with only a single exception (we’ll get to that below). Virtual events and in-person shows earn dragon marks just the same. At the end of your game your Dungeon Master will give you a unique code you can redeem for a single dragon mark.
So, I Had to Buy the Ticket?
It doesn’t matter how you got a ticket (won in a contest, given by someone else, purchased, traded, whatever), but you do need to show up and play.
How Do I Redeem the Code I Was Given for a Dragon Mark?
All you have to do is start typing /claimdragonmark
in any of our servers (if you’re not already in any of our servers, join the BMG Community Server), in any channel where you can see the BMG Bot, except the “I need help” or “Emergency” channel. When you start to type, an auto-complete pop-up should come up that looks like this:
Simply click/tap the auto-complete message, type or copy/paste the code in, and hit enter
The bot will post a success (or error) message, and automatically add the dragon mark to your account.
What If I Forgot to Redeem My Codes for Dragon Marks?
You can still follow the process above and use your code(s) to claim a dragon mark for up to 90 days after the show. After this time, we will consider a code “lost” and it will be invalidated.
How Can I Check My Dragon Mark Balance?
Similar to claiming a dragon mark, simply start typing /checkbalance
in any of our servers, anywhere you can see the BMG Bot. An auto-complete pop-up will appear. Click/tap the pop-up and hit enter; the bot will post a message with your current balance, your total earned dragon marks for the year, and the number of dungeon marks you have (used for our DMs).
How Do I Use Dragon Marks?
Dragon marks can currently be redeemed for a few things:
- Dragon marks can be redeemed to get free, early-access badges to our monthly Virtual D&D Weekends. Before regular tickets go on sale (usually about 12-24 hours prior), you can use 4 of your dragon marks with the /usemarks bot command to get a code for a free badge on our ticketing platform, Tabletop.events. Once you’ve done so, you’ll get a discount code. Copy it, go to the monthly event page on TTE, and look for badge purchasing then select “Dragon Mark Badge”. Use the code in the discount field and you’ll be all set.
- A few times a year, we’ll have opportunities for players to redeem dragon marks for access to exclusive ticket purchases on things like sneak-preview games, games with celebrity DMs, etc.
- Any games you unlock with dragon marks in this manner do not themselves earn dragon marks.
Do Dragon Marks Expire?
Nope, once you’ve earned them you can stockpile to your heart’s content, but once an opportunity to buy something comes around, it will disappear quickly!
I’m a DM. How do I get the codes to distribute to my players?
On the DM server, or (for online shows only) the player or epic servers, in any channel where you can see the BMG Bot, start typing the /getcodes
command. It will bring up an autocomplete that looks like this:
Simply click/tap the auto-complete message, type in in your table code (NOT your table number), and hit enter
The bot will post the list of codes for your to distribute.
Dragon mark codes will be available for DMs to distribute to players when the slot is 75% over to ensure any late players have adequate time to join the session.
Okay, what’s my table code?
HQ will give you your table code.
I didn’t hand out the codes fast enough and now they’re gone! Help!
You can use the command above again for the same table, and it will pull up the same list of codes again.
We expect DMs to hand out all codes within 24 hours of a game ending.
As a DM, can I earn Dragon Marks?
If you get a ticket and play as a player, absolutely! When running games, you instead earn dungeon marks! This is a separate list from your dragon marks and cannot be spent to gain access to special access games intended for loyal players. There are, however, separate ways to redeem your dungeon marks for VDDW badges, special game opportunities, etc.
